The F-14 was popularized worldwide by the 1986 film Top Gun, which served as one of the biggest advertisements for the US Navy in recent memory. The Top Gun film made the jet, the pilots and supporting personnel larger than life and ingrained the profile of the F-14 into the public consciousness.
