b'Charles Spurgeon states, anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strength. For some people, anxiety is an anchor that weighs down the mind, body and soul deep in the abyss of the unknown. Anxiety builds on the days chaos. It is of utmost importance that we rely on the source that can appeaseour anxieties; that we continue to lift up our eyes to the Maker of heaven and earth. Jesus reassured his disciples, in the Gospel of John 14, to not let their hearts be troubled. A powerful affirmation that can be easier said than done, but we have to remember it. We need to remind ourselves to not fret; to not be anxious. Jesus conquered death; the ultimate unknown. Death has no more leverage; no more power over us, espe-cially over the children of God. Death is our transportation into heaven to partake in the promises of Jesus as further stated in the latter part of John 14: My Fathers house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? (VS. 2, NIV).It is with that same mindset, the Apostle Paul, in the face of hisultimate demise, counseled us to do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God (Philippians).Be anxious not. Present the requests; the anxieties; the angst; the diseasespandemic or not; anythingwe have access to the throneof the mighty King. After all, those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint (Isaiah 40:31, NIV). Be anxious not for you already have the power to defeat your anxiety by trusting in Jesus alone. He holds the whole world in his hands. All we have to do is live our lives with thanksgiving while letting God handles thiswhatever this may be. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7, ESV). PrayerHeavenly Father, we bring our anxieties before you.
