b'Story By Jen Suwak Navy Lakehurst Historical SocietyNavy Lakehurst Historical Society (NLHS) and JBMDL (Joint Base McGuire, Dix and Lakehurst) will be commemorating the85th anniversary of the Hindenburg Disaster this year on May 6th. The purpose of theceremony each year is to reflect on the lost souls and the bravery of crew and civilianson the fateful day of the disaster, May 6, 1937. The ceremony honors all of our military combat losses from each branch of theservice that have deceased though outthe years.Many visitors are surprised to find thatNLHS is the caretaker for fascinating history apart from this famous disaster. Beyond the Hindenburg crash site, an officialtour includes a visit to the beautiful gothic style Cathedral of the Air,a non-denominational Close up photo of the burning wreckage of the Hindenburg.
